GLA Module 1
Starting the last week of September, we will begin the first of the four Gravity Leadership modules that will run until advent here at the church and/or on zoom as need be.
The 4 modules are:
Paradigm (seeing like Jesus – 7 Missional Axioms)
Posture (being like Jesus – Grace and Truth)
Practice (doing like Jesus – 6 Discipleship Practices)
Presence (a life with Jesus – integrating it all)
These modules are not more content to consume but practicing something together in community and debriefing on that practice. I believe peoples lives are not transformed by simply digesting content but by participating in a process of training and implementation.
Module 1 is where we learn to see the world through 7 scripture-rooted, paradigm-shifting axioms for leadership and mission in the way of Jesus, helping you see all of life in a new way. Because you can't BE like Jesus unless you can SEE like Jesus. Jesus had a way of seeing reality, a set of assumptions about God and the world, a paradigm that formed the foundation from which he lived and led. Unless we are intentional about naming and living into these 7 vital paradigm shifts, we'll consistently be hindered in our efforts to live and lead like Jesus.
How it works:
There will be a small cost associated for the materials.
We’ll meet in person at the church for a weekly time of training, questions, and processing. Nothing replaces the power of this simple weekly rhythm.
At most the time commitment is 90-120 minutes per week including your own study time outside the group. I know this feels like a lot of time to invest, especially when it seems we're all super busy. But here's what we've found: the time you spend investing in your own transformation and training pays dividends that far exceed the investment. Also, you can't really "shortcut" your way to transformation. It really does take significant investment. So, we won't apologize for the high bar. It's worth it.
Who is it for?
Anyone who wants to go deeper in the discipleship with Jesus
Anyone who considers themselves a leader at Holy Cross
Anyone who wants to meaningful participation in the next season of Holy Cross
What you’ll learn:
How to be truly present to yourself, others, and God
How the love of Jesus Christ is actually the key to integrated discipleship
How to listen to the Holy Spirit and discern what God is saying and doing in the everyday situations of your life
How to become more responsive to the good news of Jesus in your life
How to proclaim good news to others in evangelism and discipleship
How to train others in reproducible tools for discipleship and mission
How to develop disciples into leaders who multiply themselves
The outcome is people who are:
At home in the love of God
Empowered on the missional frontier
Able to discern and proclaim the gospel of the kingdom of God in every situation.
Guts:
The modules must be done sequentially. So, if you opt out of the first module you won't be able to just jump in next year with the second. You'll have to wait until the first module is offered again.
If you plan to participate sporadically and hope that you’ll experience transformation by osmosis or wishful thinking, do not sign up. A commitment is required.
If you’re not willing to put in the time required and be honest and vulnerable with your group, do not sign up.
But if you show up ready to fully engage, do your homework, and dig into the process, I am confident it will change your life and transform your ministry.
